Chris Foss Wot 4 Mk II ARTF

Chris Foss Wot 4 Mk II ARTF

This is the arcetypal I had one of those models and I had one of those and sadly no longer. I would hazard a guess that there isn't a flyer with any history who has not had a Wot 4 at some time. Back in the 80's when I first started flying RC every second plane was a Wot 4, a bit like a Riot these days

Mine became my intermeadiate trainer and the model that I would try any thing on, its flight envolope was just predictable from super sonic to walking pace and I would fly it in any weather, I even bought a set of ski's for it, which got used once and I still carry them in my flight box just in case.

The day came when in a fairly strong wind I came out of a stall turn at the top of the field and headed up towards the pits, opened the throttle and not much happened, the engine didn't pickup and the wind caught hold of it and blew it towards the car park, there was no getting it back and I put it in at the back of the car park. There wasn't a lot left even broke the engine mount. I still can't make my mind up if it went dead stick in the stall.
